Meaningful Coincidences as Portals to Higher Consciousness – Dr. Bernard Beitman
Coincidences are clues to how reality works and serve to challenge the materialist paradigm and open portals to higher consciousness. Meaningful coincidences including synchronicity and serendipity commonly occur yet the general public tends to ignore them. Dr. Beitman could not ignore them. When he was 8 or 9 his dog got lost, he got lost looking for him and they found each other. When he was 31, he was choking uncontrollably. He couldn’t stop and finally it stopped. Around the same time 3000 miles away his father was bleeding into his throat, choking on his own blood and dying.
These and many other experiences led Dr. Beitman to systematically study meaningful coincidences by developing the Weird Coincidence Survey to gauge the frequency of certain coincidences and help people judge their own personal sensitivity to coincidences. His book Meaningful Coincidences: How and Why Synchronicity and Serendipity Happen (2022) organizes what he has learned and serves as a guide to anyone wishing to learn how to increase their coincidence awareness and to better utilize them for decision making, grieving and strengthening interpersonal bonds.
Dr. Bernard Beitman, M.D. is Founding Director of The Coincidence Project which encourages people to tell each other their synchronicity and serendipity stories. His book, Meaningful Coincidences: How and Why Serendipity and Synchronicity Happen (September 13, 2022) comprehensively describes their wide range of uses and explanations. The book serves both as a personal guide to using synchronicities and serendipities as well an introduction to the new discipline of Coincidence Studies.
Dr. Beitman is the former chair of Psychiatry at the University of Missouri-Columbia and has a private practice in Charlottesville, Virginia. He went to Yale Medical School, and did his psychiatric residency at Stanford.
Compassion Revolution: From Mindfulness to Meaningful Coincidence for Positive Future Change – Dr. Juliet Trail
When Dr. Juliet Trail was 7 years old, her mother had a Near-Death Experience while Juliet was wrapped in her arms, following a terrible car accident. When she was 10, her toddler brother began asking their red-haired mother to tell him stories like she did back when she was his blond mother, and similar instances of seemingly past-life recall. These and other significant childhood experiences inspired her to explore the spiritual nature of reality.
As Managing Director of The Coincidence Project, she helps organize global experts of coincidence, synchronicity and serendipity as they (1) help the public normalize all forms of coincidence experiences, (2) advance the boundaries of research and investigation, and (3) join like-minded organizations to co-create a healthier future for all beings on this precious earth—what she refers to as the “Compassion Revolution.” Dr. Juliet Trail is a meditation teacher and musician who studies meaningful coincidences. Her work teaching mindfulness, compassion and nature connection grounds her spiritual exploration, as she facilitates it for others. Her poetry and songs explore these themes.
Dr. Juliet Trail, PhD is Managing Director of The Coincidence Project and Founding Director of Courageous Compassion Connection (C3), an initiative offering contemplative practices to diverse peoples to cultivate wellbeing and compassionate action to serve the earth and all beings. She has taught and presented across the US and in the UK, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Rwanda.
She has spent over two decades in education leadership, organizational development and contemplative pedagogy at University of Virginia, NMSU and C-HEARTS. She is a trained Mindful Self-Compassion Teacher. Creatively, she is a poet and musician, singing and writing music in the bands Unheard Sirens Inc. and Webweaver.
